Autism and violence

People with autism can be affected by structural violence in everyday life. At a panel discussion in Basel at the beginning of May, experts will explore the question of how this happens and what is needed to prevent it.

Autism can increase the risk of affected people becoming victims of violence. At the same time, professionals at counseling centers must take into account the specific needs of neurodivergent people in cases of violence so that they can make the best possible use of support services.

The topic of autism and violence is a topical one. It is therefore to be welcomed that the Autismus Kunterbunt association organizes events on this topic throughout the year. As part of this, a panel discussion on structural violence will take place on May 6, 2026. Together with representatives of the association, experts from the fields of medicine, education and politics as well as victim support from beider Basel will discuss the hurdles of rigid systems and possible solutions.

The panel discussion will take place on May 6, 2026 at 6:30 pm at E9 (Weizenkorn) at Eulerstrasse 9 in Basel. The event is open to the public and is open to all interested parties. It is also possible to participate online. The access data will be announced on the Autismus Kunterbunt website shortly before the event.

About the Autismus Kunterbunt association: The association is run by and for autistic people and for parents of autistic people. It runs a meeting place in Basel where affected children, young people and adults, their relatives and friends can share their experiences and support each other.
